People ask us all the time: why Wilmington?
The honest answer? Family.
When we started Hibachi Bistro in Greenville back in 2001, it was about solving a problem—college kids who wanted good hibachi at reasonable prices. But as the business grew and life changed, we needed to make a decision about where to plant real roots.
Wilmington made sense. The beaches, the riverwalk, the pace of life that’s busy but not frantic. It felt like a place where we could raise a family and build something lasting.
More Than a Location
Opening a restaurant is one thing. Becoming part of a community is another.
Over the years, we’ve watched kids who came in for their first hibachi experience grow up and bring their own friends. We’ve catered birthday parties, graduation celebrations, and everything in between. We’ve become the default answer when someone asks “where should we grab dinner?”
That’s not something you can buy or manufacture. It’s earned, one plate at a time.
The Wilmington Food Scene
We’re proud to be part of a city that takes food seriously. Wilmington isn’t just a beach town with chain restaurants—it’s a place where independent spots thrive, where people care about where their food comes from, and where a family-owned business can compete on quality rather than marketing budgets.
The customers here appreciate what we do. They notice when the vegetables are fresh. They can tell the difference between made-to-order and reheated. That keeps us on our game.
Growing With the Community
Two locations now. A third in the works. But growth for us has never been about numbers—it’s about making good food accessible to more people in the places they live.
Every time we open somewhere new, we’re not just expanding a business. We’re joining a neighborhood. Meeting new regulars. Becoming someone’s go-to spot.
That’s what keeps this work meaningful.
