It started with a craving.
Back in 2001, in Greenville, North Carolina, a group of college students wanted one thing: delicious hibachi that wouldn’t empty their wallets. The problem? It didn’t exist. Japanese steakhouses were sit-down affairs with prices to match, and fast food couldn’t deliver that fresh, made-to-order experience.
So they built it themselves.
What began as a solution to a college budget problem has grown into something much bigger. Today, Hibachi Bistro operates two locations right here in Wilmington—one on Carolina Beach Road and one on College Road—with plans for continued growth.
The Same Philosophy, Two Decades Later
Our approach hasn’t changed since day one: fresh ingredients, cooked to order, at prices that make sense. We’re not trying to be a fancy Japanese steakhouse. We’re not trying to be fast food either. We’re something in between—quick casual hibachi that doesn’t cut corners on quality.
Every dish is made fresh. Our vegetables are never frozen-to-fryer. Our sauces are prepared in-house. And our prices? Still designed with that college student mindset in mind.
A Family Business in the Port City
When we moved to Wilmington, we weren’t just opening a restaurant—we were putting down roots. This community has welcomed us, supported us, and become part of our extended family.
